A friend send me a program for yahoo messenger with new emoticons. But then I don`t like them and I wanted to delete the program. When I signed in there were not all the emoticons. What can I do?I don`t want to reinstall the Yahoo because I lost all my conversations and I really need them for some reasons.|||Click Messenger on you Messenger toolbar, click preferences, click messages, fill in in the top box in all three sections. Windows Live Messenger- Can I keep my emoticons, winks, etc from one computer if I use another computer?

I have a new laptop and I have MSN. I want to transfer all my previous emoticons, display pictures, winks, etc.

Is there a way to keep them even though Im on another computer?

Or do I have to re-install them again.

Thank You|||i would assume that they will be on the other computer if the windows live messenger version is the same; but if not then you will need to install them on that computer.|||I cant give a concrete answer, but I've been on msn on freinds computers and all my emotys arent there. So I think you have to transfer them from one computer to another.|||Nope you cant. just get friends to send them back over. easy x

What is your opinion about emoticons? What, if any, value do they have in sharing ideas on Yahoo Answers?

They don't have value on answering and asking forum and this is not for sharing ideas, it is for asking and answering, they belong in chatting forums where so much young people use them.|||They have no value at all. I've used many forums that allow them. People abuse them. They become soooo annoying that I found I just wanted to close the post. So they are a major distraction and used as toys, not to serve a useful purpose.

How can I insert custom emoticons in Windows Messenger and keep their original size?

Is it okay to use emoticons in a manuscript?

In my scene, both of my characters are having an internet chat and one character is using an emoticon. How should I describe that? Or should I just keep that part of the scene out altogether?|||It's fine. Just type it the way you would online. (But leave the chatspeak to a minimum).|||It's fine as long as you make it clear that it's only for the internet-speak aspect of the story.|||no

When and where did emoticons first appear?

I want to know. Have they been around since the days of the typewrter, or are they something new?|||1972.|||Since I saw :) on my RCPM in 1980, the "first time it was used was ... 1982" is a little late. I'd guess that they started pretty soon after text messages (not the kind we have today) started - in the early 60s, but I have no "old tapes" to prove it. There's also a claim of 1979 for -) (Kevin Mackenzie).
