How do I get rid of the pink background in my MSN custom emoticons?

My emoticons are already saved as a .gif and have a transparent background, but for some reason it turns hotpink when I load them into MSN. How can I get rid of the nasty pink?|||You have to make sure the pictures are 19 x 19 (pixels).
