Add more emoticons to select from while chatting?

I've been chatting with several other people and their screens show my version in not the same as theirs and they also have more emoticons to pick from. I have searched high and low to figure out if I have a current version. So far no such luck.Any help would be great. Thanks!|||1.go on images
