on the button you click to see emoticons, it shows you recently used emoticons. is there a way to hide those, so you dont see the ones you have already used? |||nope there isnt sorry!
but if you press ( then it comes up with your emotions aswell

Click on the drop down arrow next to your name on the top
Then go to options
Go to messages
Then untick show emoticons
