What are the key commands for emoticons for Instant Messenger's?

People in the chat rooms have other emoticons than the ones that are there. Plus people are typing in Bigger text more than 14pt? Can someone show me how to do that? I know there are some programs that do that, but is there key broad commands to do the same thing and what are them?|||it depend which version you have.
