How to make larger MSN custom emoticons?

Whenever I go to make a custom emoticon, it always makes them tiny, as opposed to the larger ones that I also have. I have tried a few of the suggestions i've seen here, including making it a 2 frame gif, and making them the same size as the big emoticons from the start.
